TED Talks

In this popular series, we introduce seniors to the global community of TED. Each session begins with a viewing of a handpicked TED Talk video, followed by a group discussion on the ideas expressed by the TED presenter. Talks include: "Do schools kill creativity?," "The power of vulnerability," and much more.

*TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues. Learn more >>

Tech Help

In this rapidly evolving digital world, seniors are increasingly adopting the use of computer technology. However, due to physical challenges, skeptical attitudes or difficulty of use, many do not feel comfortable learning the technology on their own. Let us guide and assist your residents with their technological needs.

Poetry Corner

In this series, we explore poems from centuries ago to the present day, from international authors to young students who've only begun to find their voices. Poems are read out loud, participants communicate their reactions and feelings, and the facilitator guides participants through each line of the poem so that they may come to his or her own understanding of the words put forth.

Monthly Book Club

Not only is reading good for the soul, it also boosts brain connectivity. We take that a step further by leading a group discussion, which exercises the domain of critical thinking. Critical thinking forces the reader to organize facts, understand ideas and defend their viewpoints. Additionally, a book club is the perfect socially engaging activity, encouraging participants to share their progress and thoughts on the readings with fellow book club members.
